The Character Generator offers the following features to games based on the nTeraction rules system.
Features (Generator)
- Web-based system allows users to maintain their characters from virtually any Web browser.
- Create and update character online through a wizard interface similar to Web "shopping carts."
- Wizard automatically performs calculations for archetypes, attributes, headers, skills, and spells according to the core nTeraction rules.
- Wizard enforces game rules: players can't spend more CP than they have, buy skills under headers they haven't purchased, remove skills they've already bought, etc.
- Wizard greatly simplifies the character creation process, especially for new players unfamiliar with the rules.
- Players can create, update, and track their characters with a minimum of staff intervention.
- Players can view their event registration status online.
- Players can track their CP assigments through the Generator; CP is broken down by character and category so players can see exactly how many CP they were assigned for what. There's no need for them to call you and ask if their CP has been assigned yet!
- Players can maintain their own user profiles through the site, including changing their passwords or retrieving lost passwords, without contacting the game staff.
- Players can print out a "cheat sheet" that lists all of their character's skills and all of the skill attribute costs and usage requirements.
- System can also be used to track NPCs. Any staff member can create multiple NPC characters in the Generator.
- Generator can be used for fast, easy player check-in or new character creation at events.
Features (Admin)
- Secure system has three levels of permissions: User, staff, and administrator. Different user levels have access to different parts of the Generator, allowing for flexible administration.
- Quickly assign CP through a Web form. CP can be assigned to characters (character CP) or players ("floating" CP).
- Administer headers, skills, archetypes, countries, spells, races, traits, and religions online.
- Skills, headers and spells are edited in one place, through a simple Web form. Changes immediately appear everywhere in the Generator; calculations are automatically adjusted accordingly.
- Instantly track CP assignments for any player or character in the system. Instantly search CP assignments according to a number of criteria.
- Register PCs or NPCs for events through the Admin section, and then track your event registrations online.
- Print out character cards in a single step either from the master character list or from a list of event registrations.
- Run a variety of reports, including character headers, skills, and spells; character deaths; and player demographics. Need to know how many characters have the Pick Locks skill? Need to know how many of your players live in California? Run a report.
- Gain quick access to character summary information to generate fast, targeted character history plot: goals, loves/hates, family member names, etc.
- Generator can be customized for your game: specify the terms for headers, skills, elemental attributes, etc that are appropriate for your game.
