KeyBank Real-time Integration (RTI) Transaction Manager
Transaction management and troubleshooting system for B2B integration system

Real-Time Integration (RTI) is a system for sending transactions in real-time to school partners. It currently integrates with PeopleSoft, Datatel, and Banner school information systems (SIS).

I worked with a team of .NET developers to design the transaction management and troubleshooting tool for internal Key employees. The system allows users to view all the transactions that pass through the system in a single, easy-to-use interface and to perform a variety of error resolution actions.

The application is still under development, but is expected to greatly reduce the time required to support the system.

  • Conducted user interviews and contextual inquiry to gather site requirements
  • Served as business analyst for $700K+ project, recommending features, collaborating on a release plan, and writing Agile stories
  • Developed set of clickable Axure wireframes for early user review and iterative design

Shoot the Moon is a small independent film studio in the greater Boston area. I designed and built the entire site from start to finish.

Since Shoot the Moon wanted to maintain a blog, and it was important that they be able to easily update the other pages in the site themselves, I based the site on Wordpress and built a custom Wordpress theme to achieve the design and functionality the client needed.

  • Performed all site graphic design
  • Designed custom logo with multiple versions for online and print use; created several logo options for client review
  • Built custom Wordpress theme for site blog and easy site maintenance
  • Worked closely with client to gather requirements and build site

Google Bank Vision & Android App

I designed this product strategy and Android app for a 2009 class at Bentley University. The project earned an A+.

The assignment was to create a vision of a new Google Bank business unit to offer online and mobile banking, and then create storyboards that illustrate two key task scenarios and provide narratives of user and system actions in one of the proposed products.

I designed the user interface for the configuration utility for this system for exchanging real-time data with school partners.

I worked with a team of .NET developers to design a UI that would suit the needs of three distinct internal audiences.

The final product allows users to configure a complex set of parameters and options for data exchange in a simple and intuitive interface.

I served as lead UI designer for the development of this J2EE extranet application for Key Education Resources' school partners. I created a complete design description document with use cases, developed a clickable wireframe and ran usability tests, as well as assisting with implementation.

BorrowSmart
Usability tests for online educational advising tool

I participated in a usability review of the existing BorrowSmart tool and then worked with the product management team to plan and execute two days of usability testing. I moderated the tests and drove all aspects of the planning process.

The tests resulted in a prioritized list of changes and feedback that the product management team felt was invaluable, at a fraction of the cost of running a test through a third-party testing facility.

I won a KeyBank "c3" award for my work in the project. The writeup the project manager submitted for the nomination can be downloaded at left.

Highlights

  • Provided usability feedback as part of a usability walkthrough and heuristic review
  • Wrote project proposal for product management team
  • Developed test protocol and participant scenarios
  • Provided consultation and recommendations on participant recruiting
  • Developed comprehensive clickable Axure prototypes for use in the test
  • Worked with internal survey experts to develop pre- and post-test questionnaires
  • Moderated tests of ~10 participants using the think-aloud protocol
  • Conducted pre-test participant interviews and post-test debriefs
  • Set up audio-visual equipment and remote monitoring via Morae so the test could be run in a conference room with observers in an adjacent room
  • Led post-test review and prioritization session with product management team and other observers

I worked with a team of J2EE developers to design and develop this secure online loan management site and a suite of online loan applications. Highlights included the development of a complete contextual help system and a library of JavaScript inline validations.

Highlights

  • Created Photoshop mockups and XHTML/CSS prototypes
  • Worked with team of J2EE developers under tight deadlines in an Agile development environment
  • Ensured cross-browser compatibility (tested browsers include Windows Internet Explorer 6 and 7, Windows Firefox 1 and 2, and Mac Safari)
  • Proposed and executed extensive contextual help system for online loan applications, including writing all copy
  • Developed extensive library of JavaScript for inline form validation, help display, dynamic show/hide, and other common applications
  • Planned and participated in formal usability testing
  • Assisted developers in implementing and testing final interface

KeyBank Key Education Resources Origination System (KEROS)

I served as lead user interface designer on this internal application used in Key Education Resources' call center. KEROS allows call center representatives to take phone applications for multiple loans simultaneously, check loan status, manage customers' accounts, reset passwords, and more.

Highlights

Accelerant Character Generator

The Character Generator is a secure, Web-based system for running live-action roleplaying games (LARPs). I executed the entire project from concept to execution, including all planning, interface design and development in JavaScript and ColdFusion. The game is now in use at three games and supports over 300 players.

Highlights

  • Developed entire system from concept to deployment
  • Game is currently in use at 3 New England games, and was used for the duration of 3 additional games
  • Worked with game owners and players to develop specifications
  • Performed all ColdFusion and database development
  • Wrote extensive ColdFusion and JavaScript logic to aid users in creating characters that conform to complex game system
  • Implemented settings that allow software to be easily customized for games using variations on the rules system
  • Implemented login and authentication system supporting tiered access privileges
  • Integrated Paypal support to allow players to easily register and pay for events
  • Worked with team of players to perform extensive QA and user acceptance testing
  • Provided ongoing support and maintenance

New England Canoe Polo is a small athletic club in the greater Boston area. I executed this site from start to finish, including requirements gathering, information architecture, graphic design, copywriting and coding.

The site features a pure CSS and XHTML layout, custom JavaScript based on the Prototype framework, and a smattering of PHP.

Highlights

  • Worked with club members to identify site goals and requirements
  • Created visual design, including creating Photoshop mockups of several possible designs for review
  • Developed pages in PHP, XHTML and CSS
  • Wrote custom JavaScript (including scripts for FAQ expand/contract and form validation)

I designed and developed this Web site for a small, quirky independent film company based in New England. The site is intended to express the offbeat personality of the company, while allowing Sneaky Camel to advertise projects and auditions, sell movie sponsorships, and market Sneaky Camel merchandise.

EBCC is a domestic violence agency serving several Rhode Island communities. I was responsible for all aspects of this site's development, including requirements-gathering, collaboration with EBCC staff, graphic design, PHP and MySQL coding, and training.

Highlights

  • Managed all client interactions and provided user training
  • Worked with client to define site audience and requirements
  • Developed statement of work proposing a site with a mixture of PHP and static HTML pages to suit a nonprofit budget while allowing client to easily update key areas of the site
  • Implemented site in PHP, MySQL, and HTML
  • Developed PHP/MySQL forms to allow users to join the EBCC mailing list or apply for volunteer positions online
  • Created secure PHP administration console to allow employees to post news stories, links, and upcoming events
  • Implemented security features to prevent SQL injection, email injection, and cross-site scripting attacks
