Cambridge Computer Services
Cambridge Computer Services is a reseller and consulting firm specializing in enterprise backup and storage based in the greater Boston area. I managed four separate releases of the Cambridge Computer Web site over a period of eight years.
For the latest release I was hired as an independent consultant to manage the development of the new release. I worked with an outside graphic design and development firm, as well as internal staff, to launch the site within about three weeks.
Responsibilities
- Coordinated stakeholders, including management, content developers, marketing personnel, technical staff, and the outside design agency
- Wrote site copy and edited copy developed by other staff members
- Performed most development and layout
- Recommended and implemented ColdFusion-based back-end for the site
- Designed and implemented administration console to allow non-technical staff members to edit the seminars and training classes displayed on the live Web site
- Created Web forms to allow users to register for training classes, request white papers, or join mailing lists
- Developed ColdFusion banner rotation application to allow non-technical users to control what banners appear on what sections of the site
- Built application to allow staff to add partner names and upload partner logos to Web site
- Achieved first-page rankings for key search terms on Google and other major search engines
- Successfully managed internal staff and outside design company to release site quickly and on budget
